3rd Campus Updates & Thoughts
Our #ForGreene “Shock & Awe” Promo Campaign Begins Today! <<< (VERY IMPORTANT! WE NEED EVERYONE TO PITCH IN & HELP WITH THIS!)
Our goal is to coordinate an all-at-once shock-and-awe saturation of our #ForGreene promo to announce the launch of our new South Greene Campus on Sun, Oct 16. Since postcard mailer #1 began going out all over Greene County this past Friday, 7 billboards begin tomorrow, Mon, Sep 12, and a video invite on socials follows later this week, please help by putting a yard sign out by the road, an FCC sticker on your vehicle’s back window, and wearing your #ForGreene t-shirt! We want everyone to know that we aren’t done preaching the gospel for the sake of Helping People Find and Follow Jesus, so join in the shock-and-awe, keep praying, and start inviting your family and friends to join us! Promo stuff is being passed out on Sunday morning, or you can stop by the Church Office at our Greeneville Campus during the week.

The Latest Info (through Sat, Aug 27):
  • Worship & Serve Commitments (of 125 per campus)
    • Afton: 128
    • Greeneville: 151
    • South Greene: 87 (<-- We need you to help us go from 70% to (as close to) 100% by Sun, Oct 16!)
    • FYI, to “Worship & Serve” simply means we’re asking those committing to a campus to commit to Worship & Serve at some capacity, (not necessarily every Sun.)
  • Financial Commitments (of $100,000) – As of Today: $99,000 already given! Please help us get over the top so I can stop asking.
  • Launch Guide — Contains important reminders of big picture multisite vision/strategy, calendars of events leading up to launch (and “relaunch,” for existing campuses), and a prayer guide. PDF available here or pick up a hardcopy in The Hub “at any campus.”
  • Have You Turned in Your Multisite Response Card? – Asking bc a lot have not. So… yeah… please do.
  • We Need More South Greene Launch Peeps & More Kids Min Help – Let us know on the Connect Card (on the app or at fccgreene.org/cc).
  • Btw, the Highlights Vid of the South Greene Multi Update Dinner & Preview Shindig is most definitely worth a minute of your time! So. Good.

Buncha Misc (and Mostly Quick and New) Thoughts/Items:
  • Weekly Pulse Video – Every week I think, “Man, the Pulse Video is so good!” It’s one of the best ways to get a quick 3-min skinny on the important goings-on here at FCC. If you haven’t yet, check out today’s here. And as Bob says about a dozen times in the video, you can always find the PV “on the app” under, you guessed it, the “Pulse” tab.
  • New “Directory” on the App — After much wrangling, we now have a secure yet easily-accessed directory of contact info for FCCers on the “Pulse” tab on the app. Now—very important point—you alone control what other folks can and cannot see (and you don’t even need to remember a password.) Just go in, enter your cell, enter the temporary password they’ll immediately text you, and follow the prompts. No info of yours shows up at all until you go through this process. (This *may* only work if we already have your cell in our database, but there may be some way they have you enter it along the way.) It’s pretty easy, but if you get lost, ask someone under 35 or find someone at The Hub and we’ll help you. (Hey Staff, please go in and at least make sure your picture and FCC email’s in there (as firstname@fccgreene.org.))
  • New “Events Calendar” on the App — Like the directory, it’s been a long, hard slog to get things consolidated on our end, and we’ve still got some things left to work on, but a regularly updated calendar with details about events is easily accessible on the “Pulse” tab.
  • New Background Video on fccgreene.org — Nice and smooth and also now includes all 3 campuses.
  • Sunday Recap Vids on Socials — If you haven’t seen ‘em on the socials, check out this weekly recap vid that we post on Saturdays, as an invite for Sunday: https://fb.watch/ft6qJb7YC9 or https://www.instagram.com/p/CiEX44OomJN/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=. I chose this one because of how cool it is to hear preaching about Christ’s death to self over the video of 4 baptisms! If you’re on FB or Insta, share away on Saturdays!
  • “Resources” Menu on fccgreene.org — We’ve now had more than a few of our folks and a few non-FCCers ask where they can get to sermons, Brown Bags & Bibles, Coffee Convos, Great Questions Answered, and Scott’s Thoughts, so we’ve put ‘em all under the “Resources” menu.
  • Rosella Gass — Rosella, who was Cathy Lefsky’s mother and one of our longtime saints, passed away this week. If memory serves, she retired at about 90, drove till 91, and passed away at 92, so Rosella got about one year of retirement! She was faithful, wise, never uttered a cross word about anyone, found the good in every circumstance, helped others in need, prayed aloud by name for her people, and gave me a hug every week! Be praying for the Gass family as they adjust to life on this side of heaven without her.
  • Elders Vote & Small Clarification – If you’re a voting member of FCC, (see fccgreene.org/membershiprequirements for more), don’t forget to vote on/by Sun, Sep 25 at fccgreene.org/vote or make arrangements to come to the office (423-639-0126). Also, just to clarify, Mark Liebert did not step down from being an Elder. The recent Elders Letter, sent in August, didn’t leave much room to explain further and could’ve been construed as saying that he was. He’s just at the end of his 6-yr term (our bylaws allow up to two 3-yr terms in a row, followed by a required 1-yr off. See fccgreene.org/bylaws for more detail.)
  • Ever-Emerging Great Questions Answered (GQA) Installments – Nothing earth shattering, but the GQA re how we as Christians should respond to the overturn of Roe v Wade has been re-edited for clarity and a few paragraphs have been added. Slowly getting there. Same on GQA re what to look for in a church and when to leave. Got so much extra campus launch stuff going on that GQAs are currently moving like molasses.
  • Yes, Major Hospitals in the US are Indeed Doing So-Called Gender Reassignment Surgeries – In the Sun, Aug 7 ST, I implied that major medical hospitals have been doing gender reassignment surgeries on minors, which is a claim that Washington Post, PolitiFact, and NPR recently “fact checked” and disputed on the record. For much more evidence corroborating the claim, including peer-reviewed medical journals, listen to this 5-mins news story from Megan Basham, who is a Christian journalist I trust and have long followed: https://pca.st/episode/4d695843-9883-4205-96be-49df10fe2531?t=336.0.

Buncha In-Case-You-Missed-‘Ems From Recent Scott’s Thoughts (ST)
Just some titles of recent things covered in case you wanna go back and read ‘em. I do this occasionally because there are quite a few things that come up that have written answers and info available. If you’re new to FCC or unaware, ST posts can be found on the app (fccgreene.org/app), at fccgreene.org/st, or under the “Resources” menu at fccgreene.org. (And yes, we know, depending on how you’re accessing it, the process of navigating to/fro posts can be frustrating. Sorry.)
