H7 Story: CrossCon

CrossCon 2025 was held the first week of  January at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Kentucky. CrossCon has a specific mission of reaching young adults and empowering them to make Jesus’ name known. They specifically emphasize the gospel, the local church, and God’s heart for the nations. While there is no specific age-limit, their focus-group is young people ages 18-25.

First Christian Church brought 35 of the nearly 15,000 people in attendance. This was their third time taking a group. This number was the largest FCC has ever taken, and it was also the largest CrossCon meeting ever held. With speakers like John Piper, David Platt, Trip Lee, Kevin DeYoung, and Mez McConnel, attendees participated in powerful worship paired with deep theological conversations.

Kevin Watson was just one of the FCC’ers who made the trek to Louisville and was amazed to reflect on the 15,000 people intentionally worshipping God and learning more about Him. “Before attending, I was not sure how it would impact me because it is mission-focused,” he began, “but it made me recognize the importance of the local church in relation to missions.” He went on to explain that Crosscon provided many sermons and breakouts that increased his knowledge about Christianity. “During these sermons, I found myself at the edge of my seat, excited to learn more. Crosscon was inspiring and encouraging during my walk with Christ.”

Fellow attendee Jess Broeske agreed. She also did not know what to expect since it was her first time attending, “but it turned out to be an incredibly meaningful experience.” She highlighted worshipping with the entire group of attendees as her favorite part. “Worshipping with the body of Christ . . . united in praise of the one true King, was truly moving.”

Their hotel offered the group the opportunity to gather on the top floor at the end of each day, where the breathtaking views combined with quality time together and reflection on the takeaways from their main sessions and breakouts were invaluable.

Pillar Leader David Bowlin couldn’t stop gushing about the experience for their group, amazed to hear the voices of so many people praising God’s name in a song. “The teaching was amazing as we considered what it means for us, as young adults, to be focused on the mission God has given us!” David reflected. “Besides the content itself, I witnessed our group being intentional as we engaged with what we were learning and challenged each other!

David reflected on many conversations that he was a part of or witnessed where young adults were counseling one another, talking through detailed theological subjects, or being vulnerable enough to share their own recent struggles. They gathered a group of us together a couple of times to simply share what God was teaching them. “And the only limit to the things we shared was the time given before the next session. This trip abundantly blessed our Young Adults and are already wondering what God may have in store for our lives next year. For now, we press on as Pillars of the truth in the church for the sake of God's glory! Oh, how great is our God!"
