H7 Story: Keeping Us Caffeinated

In every community, there are people behind the scenes who diligently contribute to making things better while flying under the radar. We lovingly refer to these individuals as "everyday boring faithful servants." One such faithful person is Emily Latham, (trust us, the boring part is not about her personality) whose dedication to roasting coffee beans for our congregation is a big deal for all of us.

Have you ever wondered about the delicious aroma of freshly brewed coffee that fills the church hall before or during the service? It's more than just a delightful fragrance; it represents the tireless efforts of individuals like Emily, who go above and beyond to ensure that our church family enjoys the perfect cup of coffee each week.

Emily began serving in this way over six years ago. Even though her schedule didn't work to serve on Sundays, she loved FCC and wanted to serve, and roasting seemed like a good fit. Emily describes her experience this way, "Megan Schlesing used to roast with me, and we would catch up on life. I continued on my own after Megan started teaching, and it gave me time to go in that room and roast some happiness because coffee makes me happy. I also love that when I leave, people all over Greeneville can smell me." 😂

Emily's faithfulness to coffee bean roasting has made our Sunday mornings even more enjoyable.
Every week, she spends around an hour in the Greeneville roasting room, roasting beans with meticulous care and attention to detail. She ensures each campus receives a perfect batch of roasted coffee beans for Sunday morning.

The impact of Emily's dedication reaches beyond the church's coffee cups. Through her simple service, she is part of creating an atmosphere of warmth, connection, and community.

Emily's commitment can be quantified in the sheer volume of coffee beans she has roasted this year. Since January, she has roasted 300 pounds of coffee beans. Whoa, y'all! That's a lot of coffee!

The next time you savor a cup of coffee before or during the service, take a minute to thank Emily for her unwavering commitment to keeping us all caffeinated. She is a shining example of a faithful servant who finds joy and purpose in even the seemingly simplest of tasks.
