H7 Story: A Play Date With Our Church Family

Family is super important to us at FCC. While we have a heart for all people at the church, our children may be one of the most important things we do as they are the future of the body of Christ. Keeping this in mind, FCC has made it a point to begin offering Family eXPerience events. These events are designed to provide families with connection to the body while also enjoying community with other parents, and honestly, just a time to sort of “chill out.”

Recently, one of these events was held at The Factor Adventure on Saturday, April 26th. “It was great to see parents standing around talking, while their kids played with their friends,” Kids Min. Director Michael Schubert commented. “They shared life, the good and the bad, laughed and had a great time. Some of the dads played a round or two of Laser tag, while moms chatted about babies and school.”

The Factory Adventure allowed for the perfect space for parents to have some time to relax while the kids ran around playing foosball, climbing on the playground equipment, racing up the rock wall, or sharing a round of Laser Tag. Simply put, this time was well utilized to point our families in the church to others in the church.

The plan is to host six of these Family eXPerience events per year. Some will be events that encourage parents to do something fun with their kids like building a kite and going to a local park to fly it. Some will be date nights, where childcare is provided at the church. All of these events will encourage families spending time together and investing in the discipleship of their children.

Angie Carlson, who has three young girls shared that the event was like a giant playdate with their church family. “My girls have visited The Factory on several occasions, but they were beyond thrilled to spot their friends from church and make new ones. They thoroughly enjoyed nonstop fun, and couldn’t bear to leave when our two hours were up! Likewise, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing friends from across campuses and couldn’t believe how much the time flew by. I was able to soak in meaningful conversations with other parents while maintaining an eye on my kids, and that made my role much lighter and sweeter. I fondly recall having my feet up in a recliner, reveling in the full blast of AC, and sharing with Cara Trantham deeply about life and motherhood. In my season of life, the wherewithal to organize a meaningful playdate for my kids (and myself) is elusive, so thank you FCC for arranging this Family eXPerience! Such a rewarding and encouraging time!”
