H7 Story: Team Bash Ball # 4

Alex McCoy – Team Code Maxim #4 says, “We celebrate everyday boring faithful service.”
Alex McCoy's First Christian Church story began 14 years ago when he first stepped foot into FCC with his family during middle school. As a teenager, he quickly found his place in the AV/Tech team and started helping out alongside like-minded individuals in 180. “I loved how the director, Nathan at the time, made me feel appreciated every time I'd help out,” Alex recalls. “I now get the pleasure of being in his position every Tuesday at Pillar. I now get to help teach, meet with, and help all my team members grow in Christ.”
Over the years, Alex's involvement in FCC's AV/Tech department grew from a casual helper to a dedicated learner. He continued to delve deeper into the technical aspects of AV production, mastering the skills required for leading the team as a producer until he left for college.
While he still serves on Sundays, Alex’s chief responsibility surrounds Pillar. Young Adults Director David Bowlin had no shortage of positive things to say about Alex’s involvement with that part of ministry. “When he came back from college in the Summer of 2023, Alex dove in head first as our Tech Team Coach at Pillar,” David began. “Alex doesn't love a spotlight, but he does love helping people.”
Alex is one of the guys who tries to help in every situation that he can. “He shows up before anyone else every Tuesday night and is often the last one to leave with me,” David continued. He explained that Alex is always there for his team – whether it is to fix something that is broken or to buy pizza or have a chat on the phone. And then, he follows that up by never telling anyone what he did. “He doesn't want credit or pats on the back. “He just wants to faithfully fill his role.”
For Alex, the journey at First Christian Church has not only been about growing as an individual but also about making a meaningful impact within his church community. Each time he serves, he strives to give back and contribute to the place that helped him Find and Follow Jesus making him an incredibly deserving recipient of Team Ball #4!
