H7 Story: Team Bash Ball # 3
Mark Brzuchalski has been serving with the youth for many years – so many in fact that Catalyst General Manager Nathan Dickerson remembers Mark volunteering back when he was in High school (circa 2010!)
Currently, Mark is the leader for the 11th grade boys small group. But he is often seen in a variety of other capacities as well including: Kids Min, re:gen, and life groups. He has even been spotted helping at Catalyst.
Mark is an accountant and is known for his precision. However, he has willingly stepped in and been incredibly flexible wherever he has been asked. Elder Carl DelSorbo remarked “Mark is often seen leading groups of kids, like the pied-piper, to the restroom or having them wrapped around one of his legs as they use him as a jungle gym. He is willing to do whatever is needed to share the love of Christ with them and plant the Word of Truth in their hearts.”
Student Director Travis Chapman concurred. “Mark exemplifies everyday boring faithfulness,” he began. “He pours into students on a weekly basis while also attending nearly every event. He is teachable and consistently asks for counsel. This shows his humility and eagerness to learn because he believes feedback helps and excellence matters.”
Mark explained that FCC has been a vital part of his growth in Christ. “Through every conviction God has moved me to a place of discomfort. If God hadn’t shown me the need for people, I would still be isolating and quite possibly still without a relationship with Christ. Serving is such a big piece of this. I love serving at FCC because there is accountability and grace.”
Isaac Kitsteiner is one of the 11th grade boys in Mark’s small group at 180. He spoke on behalf of all the young men that Mark works with in commenting on the fact that Mark is incredibly kind and invested. He is there for them for anything that comes up and is always kind and patient.
Mark explained that accountability was not something that came naturally to him. He said that throughout college and his young adult life, he hardly even recognized when he messed up. “It is through God convicting me through his Spirit of my own flaws that I learned to see accountability as necessary to understand grace. God’s grace. This is the grace that I have had the privilege to learn about at FCC and impart to others, when I am listening to what God says in his word. God’s plan of redemption through Jesus Christ is God’s grace to us. This is not the way I used to think, but God constantly reminds me to be intentional. This is why I love serving.”
