H7 Story: Team Bash Ball # 2
Team Code Maxim #2 says, “We ‘praypare’ as if souls are at stake, the Word does the work, excellence matters, and feedback helps.”
Team Ball #2 was awarded to Jonathan Bowlin. While only a high school senior, this young man has been such an incredible help in so many areas. This year he stepped into worship leading at 180, and is on a regular rotation to lead on Sunday mornings as well. He also serves on the student leadership team at 180 and steps up to the plate of anything else where he feels there is a hole he can fill! Despite all the new areas in which he has been asked to fill in, Jonathan carries on and does all with excellence and never a word of complaint.
Big brother David who leads Pillar and is on staff at FCC shared that Jonathan’s serving reminds him so much of their late father. As most people associated with FCC know, nearly a year ago, FCC lost a very dear member of our family. Chuck lost his life in a tragic accident while on vacation out of the country. Anyone who knows Chuck knows that his willingness to serve was truly bigger than words. David echoed this sentiment when he wrote, “Even through such a hardship of losing his Dad, his devotion to his calling as a servant within the local church as a part of Christ's body never wavered. Not only does he do the things well, but they matter to him. He is constantly seeking counsel and help, and thinking beyond himself in whatever role he fills. He knows his life is not his own, but has been bought with a price! So he glorifies God with His body! He inspires me.”
Jonathan, who has been serving at FCC since 6th grade, shared his own thoughts recently when he said, “Serving as the worship leader at FCC has been a wonderful opportunity that I'm so thankful for. It has allowed me to grow my faith through serving alongside others who also desire to glorify God in song. I love serving because I get to glorify him who saved me, and also lead others closer to Jesus.”
FCC member Wendi Kitsteiner has had the privilege of seeing Jonathan grow through their relationship at church and in their homeschooling community, where, not surprisingly, Jonathan also serves on the leadership team. “I have boys two years behind Jonathan in age. If Jonathan Bowlin is going to be there, my heart rests easy about how things will run. He will always be alert to people in need, reach out to those who are struggling, and keep everyone focused on the task at hand. He is a young man that I can only hope my sons will choose to emulate.”
Jonathan is one of our youngest-ever Team Ball award winners and incredibly deserving of the recognition!
