H7 Story: Prayer and Care

At FCC, we strive to live out the love and care of Christ in tangible ways. One beautiful expression of this is through our weekly Sunday evening prayer texts. Every Sunday at 5p, a verse of encouragement is sent to our entire church family, along with an invitation to share prayer requests. This simple practice has become a ministry of connection and care.

One of the most touching aspects of this ministry is the dedication of our Care Team. They don’t merely acknowledge the prayer requests; they take the time to craft heartfelt responses, often including a written prayer tailored to the request. This intentionality has fostered a deep sense of community and spiritual support within our church.

Here’s an example of how God is working through this ministry:

A few weeks ago, a member texted:

“Please pray for the Lord to provide me with patience, discernment, and perseverance. Thank you.”

The Care Team responded promptly:

“Lifting you up in prayer right now. Praying you lean on the Lord for His wisdom and guidance, knowing in all circumstances He has you!!!”

The individual replied:

“Thank you. I very much believe in the power of prayer and I practice it daily. My Lord does hear me even though I know He senses my doubts.”

The Care Team, sensing an opportunity to encourage further, responded:

“You know His truth and how much He loves you.”

This ongoing exchange wasn’t just a moment of prayer; it was a moment of discipleship and connection. The individual felt seen, heard, and uplifted by the body of Christ.

Through these prayer texts, God is moving powerfully. Requests for patience, healing, guidance, and peace are met with earnest intercession and encouragement. In a world that often feels disconnected, this ministry reminds us of the power of community and the faithfulness of our God. It’s a testament to how a simple text can become a lifeline, a source of hope, and a reflection of Christ’s love.
