H7 Story: Flood Relief Fund

While the flooding and destruction that occurred in our area after Hurricane Helene in late September of this year has been difficult and devastating for so many in Greene County, it has also created opportunities for volunteers and donors to contribute to clean-up and rebuilding efforts from all across the country.  Through word of mouth and FCC’s social media, people from coast to coast heard about the needs of our community, and we have had donations to our Flood Help Fund coming in steadily over the last few months.

People from twelve different states have Pursued Generosity with us thanks to FCC’ers who shared the link with their family and friends, Our Board of Elders has been working with relief efforts in our community to make sure that all of the Flood Help Fund donations received by FCC will be used locally and help those in need in Greene County. The Lord is working in the hearts of people all across the country as we come together to rebuild the homes and lives of people in our community, and we continue to Help people find and follow Jesus!

So far we have raised over $22,000 for flood relief. We have given $2,000 to Longview Ranch to help with supplies. These supplies were used to help muck out six homes and to provide housing and feed helpers from 5+ states. We were also able to give $5,000 to an FCC’er who lost everything and $5,000 to an FCCer who is using his construction company and expertise to lead significant cleaning and rebuilding efforts.

Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus – let’s continue to meet the needs of our community together!
