H7 Story: God Made Me To Help Others

By Lindsay Allen
In Early Childhood, the theme for May was "God made me to help others!" Each week, we discussed different community helpers such as firefighters, postal workers, teachers, librarians, dentists, doctors, police officers and rescue workers just to name a few. Each week in class we discussed how we can be God's helpers. In our class of 3 and 4 year olds, we talked about cleaning up our toys, being kind to friends, or making something for someone to brighten their day. One day a couple of our kids said making cards makes everyone smile and we can do that. Kendall and I took the idea and ran with it. The kids were so excited and took pictures and helped name some places we could mail our cards! We mailed cards to local schools in the afton area, the library, tusculum fire and police departments, tusculum dental, pharmacies, and postal workers. Our kids are so amazing and every week is a privilege to be able to teach them about how Jesus wants to be our friend forever. This idea made people smile, and reminded them what they are doing is bigger than just a job. No matter your age you can be used for growing the kingdom of God, or Helping People Find and Follow Jesus 😉

If you have been interested in helping in children's or kids ministry, just do it ! You do not need to be perfect or a biblical scholar, you just need an open heart and be willing to dance with them during songs. It really is the best part of the week.  Thank you parents that faithfully bring and trust volunteers with your children each week.
