H7 Story: Becoming Pillars
Just north of Chattanooga, the PILLAR Young Adults found a bit of a second home, Fri & Sat, Jul 16 & 17. These young adults enjoyed two, full days of quality time, both with God and with each other.
Any time of day, the dining hall was their space. There, sermons, worship, breakout sessions, eating incredibly delicious food, and even a spontaneous dance session could (and did) happen!
One room over, the lobby was the place to introvert (we all need to sometimes!). Some found the space perfect to just be with, and be there for, close friends (young adults deal with a lot of stuff (“ish,” if you will). Others were drawn to the balcony outside where they could meet and be mentored by the phenomenal listeners that are Christa and Carl Del Sorbo.
And should they want to venture further outside, tiny, friendly frogs skipped along the gravel path whenever they walked down to the lake. Maybe a young adult was headed there for a quiet morning, alone, with God. Or, it was later in the day and they were dressed to swim, excited to plunge into the water with friends. Either way, the lovely forest around always made for a cool nature walk.
And whoever said young adults couldn’t spend two hours collecting sea shells if they wanted to? Some definitely did! Or why couldn’t they take a break and play a game of Ultimate Frisbee (by the way, if you’re cool you just call it Ultimate) or volleyball? Needless to say, there was something for everyone there.
It was a beautiful retreat (emphasis on retreat)! The lives of young adults relentlessly pick up steam as they consider daunting, life-altering choices (pretty much on a daily basis). PILLAR loved giving them a space at the BECOMING PILLARS Retreat to just be, to rest, and to grow to be "Pillars of the Truth."
