H7 Story: 180 Parent Night

On a typical Wednesday night, students from various schools, families, and counties attend FCC for 180 Students. Normally about 100 students, from 6th to 12th grade are packed into the Student Center. However, on Mar 29, almost 200 people overflowed in the upstairs Worship Center. 116 of them were students, around 44 were parents, and about 22 of them were our faithful Small Group Leaders.

This was also a special night for rising 6th graders. On this special night, they got to come along with their parents to experience 180, where they were invited to join the 6th grade Small Group. This summer they will officially become part of 180 and will participate in all the fun games and activities that are planned.
Crowd-engaging games were played and everyone laughed and had fun with the silly games hosts. This was followed by a moving worship session and a message by Student Director, Travis Chapman. The energy and excitement in the room were palpable. Later, students divided into their Small Groups. Just like every other Wednesday night, the kids went to their age-and-gender specific groups and talked about the sermon questions, or just life in general. This night, the parents stayed in the Worship Center and got filled in on the comings and going of our Christ-centered youth community. After about an hour or so, everyone spread out and either got treats from the snack table, played ping pong, or ventured outside to compete in nine-square.

Small Group Leader and parent, Teresa Gibson described the night this way, "180 Student Ministry is always full of fun, craziness, and God's Word. I love getting to be a Small Group Leader. Parent night is amazing because we get to watch out kids worshipping and praising God in their own way."

Visiting 180 Parent, Catherine Mccoy said, "Parent Night at 180 was a solid reminder that young believers have so many gifts and talents to offer. It was encouraging to see many young men and women praise God openly throughout the entirety of the worship service. The truth of Scripture was shared without hesitation by the young leaders and Student Director alike. Students were excited to be among peers and the joy they felt was contagious. I really appreciate the invitation to attend the Parent Night. Attending renewed my confidence that Jesus is alive and powerful within believers of all ages."
