H7 Story: PILLAR MAKING PILLARS

In May of 2021, Pastor Scott Wakefield made a very specific comment, reiterating what FCC’s Elders had already emphasized in their meetings prior to the fall launch of PILLAR. The goal was to make PILLAR into a young adult ministry that did not exist as its own entity. “We are going to try  to  find a way to be the exceptional church that actually assimilates them into the larger body,” Scott explained.

It is through becoming established in a church body that, young adults can truly experience meaningful growth and develop into PILLARs of the truth to the world. These young people are  on mission for the sake of Christ’s Kingdom! This ministry's name was established as “Pillar” to reflect that value, echoing 1 Timothy 3:15 that the church of the living God is a PILLAR of the truth.

So… how has this been going? Is the goal the Elders laid out coming to pass? Are Young Adults getting plugged in outside of their weekly meetings?

The answer is resoundingly yes!

Since PILLAR’s launch in August of 2021, we’ve seen at least eight young adults place membership with us. If you include their families who followed suit, it’s double that. Additionally, eight are currently in the pipeline, having attended Next Steps, and we hope they too will join us. We’ve seen over forty young adults attend Sunday Mornings with connection to PILLAR. If we include families, the numbers only climb!

Setting numbers aside, just listen to the testimony of this Young Adult who placed membership a month ago: “I came to FCC last May after moving to Greene-County. I found the church through PILLAR, after being invited by the fine folks at Catalyst Coffee. Since then, I have been attending the Afton Campus and PILLAR on Tuesday Nights.”
Awesome right!?

Another recent member echoed this statement when she said, “Early last year, after a fruitless year of church hunting, I met an FCC’er who invited me to PILLAR. After seeing how intentional and Christ- centered this community is, I decided to make FCC my new Church home!”

How cool is that!?

We are always thinking about how we can normalize the flow of Young Adults into meaningful, local church engagement! PILLAR’s coaches meet weekly to pray for the ministry and discuss how they can more effectively encourage shepherd young adults into the local church! Our breakout leaders are intentional about inviting their peeps to Next Steps Meetings! AND, we encourage the step from stage each week.

Please join us in prayer as we seek to Help Young Adults Find and Follow Jesus!
