Tell the Story: Dead End Game Calls

If you attend the Greeneville campus, you may know the Paysinger family, who have attended and been involved for 3 years. You may even recognize Patrick from when he serves on our Safety Response Team. (He's the big dude on the left in the above picture who is cheesing over a successful hunt.) But you may not know that Patrick is part of a very cool ministry called Dead End Game Calls!

Company owner Mitchell Johnston founded Dead End Game Calls in 2011 after winning the Grand National Open Turkey Calling Championship in 2010. This is basically like winning the Super Bowl in the turkey calling world! He wanted to use this platform God gave him to spread the gospel in a non-church setting. Patrick joined the team about 8 years ago. He said, "Many hunters believe in God because they have seen the Creator through His creation, but most do not know Jesus personally. Most feel they are not good enough for church or have had a bad experience with 'religious" people at church, so they do not go to church." Patrick and his hunting friends speak to other hunters in a laid-back outdoor setting, and a considerable number that hear the Word are convicted by the Holy Spirit and give their life to the Lord! How cool is that?!

Dead End Game Calls has a TV show on Mossy Oak Go that airs in Spring and Fall with a live turkey and deer series. It can be watched on-demand on their app, YouTube, Roku, and Amazon Fire. Their spring series had over 1.5 million minutes of views! Every show ends with a quick biblical thought related to hunting and on their social media platform, they share a weekly 3-10 minute lesson called “Wednesday Word.”

A few weeks ago, Patrick and Dead End Games Calls had the opportunity to join the Outdoor Dream Foundation. He traveled to Florida and had the opportunity to guide two young men with terminal cancer on a hunting trip. One of them is a 23-year-old who has battled cancer for eight years. Patrick was able to guide and film him getting 2 turkeys. After getting to shoot his first turkey, he couldn't help but be overwhelmed with the goodness of God: "It was a humbling experience for me. Here is a man with little to be happy about on earth, but he knows this world is temporary, and has an eternity to look forward to.”
