The Schlesing Family "Tell the Story" about Operation Christmas Child.

"We’ve admired and partnered with Samaritan’s Purse for a couple of decades.  Sacrificially loving others who have no way to return payment is a picture of grace; it’s a tiny picture of how God, through Christ’s sacrifice, loves us.

OCC Shoeboxes are an opportunity to bring the whole family together, teaching our kids about the needs that exist in the world both physically and spiritually. It’s good for them to understand (and for us to remember) just how blessed we are, and that the blessings God has placed in our hands are not intended for our personal consumption—we steward His goodness for Kingdom investment and growth.  If we steward well, then we may experience the eternal riches of witnessing God work miracles in the hearts and lives of others, doing through us what we could never do on our own.

Those of us with a car, cell phone, or resources to afford eating out are rich by global standards. We want our kids to practice Paul’s teaching to Timothy and the early church. We want them to practice it while they are young and continue their entire lives. This is a great way to do this."

– Andy, Megan, Isabel and Gabe Schlesing

“Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.”
